Glazing and Architectural Details
Restoring the definition and contrast of your home’s architectural frame
The Importance of the "Frame"
The visual appeal of your home is defined not just by the walls, but by the lines that frame them, the fascias, soffits, and gutters. These elements act as the outline of the property. However, because they are constantly exposed to UV light and rain, they are often the first areas to degrade.
For the homeowner, the issue is the "Halo Effect", a clean driveway or roof looks significantly less impressive if it is framed by grey, algae-stained plastics or dirty gutters.
Understanding the Damage
It is not just about dirt; materials like UPVC and powder-coated aluminium suffer from specific types of degradation.
UPVC Discolouration: Over time, UV radiation attacks the surface of white UPVC, causing it to turn yellow or grey. Combined with algae growth, this makes the roofline look tired and neglected.
Tiger Striping: This is a common issue on gutters. It occurs when dirt and biological matter drip over the lip of the gutter, leaving vertical black streaks that bond to the plastic and cannot be removed by simple washing.
Stone Sills: As horizontal ledges, window sills trap water and attract moss and black spot. This organic build-up gradually darkens the stone, detracting from the crisp, clean finish of the window frame.
Our Approach: Restoring the Framework
We move beyond the scope of a standard window cleaner. We view the window and roofline as a complete architectural feature, comprising the fascia, the soffit, the gutter, the frame, and finally, the glass.
1. Roofline & Plastic Restoration We employ specialist degreasers and solvents designed to lift traffic film and embedded dirt from fascias and soffits. This chemical process restores the bright white profile of UPVC or the satin sheen of aluminium, lifting stains that standard soapy water leaves behind.
2. Gutter & Stain Removal We specifically target the "tiger striping" on the exterior of your gutters. Using targeted cleaning agents, we dissolve the bond of these black streaks, returning the gutters to a uniform, clean finish.
3. The Glass (The Finishing Touch) We treat the glass as the final step in a full exterior detail. Once the heavy soiling is removed from the frames, soffits, and sills, we rinse the glazing using Pure Water. This ensures the glass dries spot-free, with no chemical residue left on the surrounding masonry.
Key Standards
Stain Elimination: We use specialist products to remove stubborn "tiger stripes" and oxidation from gutters and fascias.
Sill Preservation: We utilise softwash techniques to kill biological roots in stone or brick sills, preventing the blackening that often occurs beneath window frames.
Comprehensive Cleaning: We clean the entire assembly, the deep channels of the frames, the runners, and the sills, not just the glass pane.
Pure Water Finish: A final rinse with purified water guarantees a crystal-clear, streak-free finish on all glass surfaces as part of the wider restoration.
